This session's topic: The Stigma of Addiction

Addiction is best understood as a disease--just like cancer, arthritis, or diabetes. Despite widespread and scientific evidence to support this,  the view of alcohol and drug addiction as a weakness and a moral failing is so ingrained in society that many seem to ignore that addiction is treatable.

The stigma associated with addiction is such that it perpetuates the disease, impacting not only the individual suffering, but also their family and the community as a whole.

Join us as we explore the stigma of addiction, its social and medical implications, and what we can do to not only combat stigma, but to also support those impacted by addiction.
