January 17: Film and Discussion Panel on Stigma

After the film, several experts & guest advocates will be on-hand to answer questions about addiction, treatment options, and the recovery process.

The Counseling Center at Yorktown Heights hosts a Documentary Film/Panel Discussion Night on Wednesday, January 17, showcasing the film, “Reversing the Stigma”.

This OASAS-sponsored film highlights the work currently being done in New York State to combat addiction. Narrated by acclaimed television journalist, Laurie Dhue, the film profiles people in various stages of recovery, who share their stories and experiences. The film allows viewers a chance to better understand that addiction is a disease like any other, and should be treated as such.

The Counseling Center at Yorktown Heights is an outpatient addiction treatment center for adults and adolescents seeking treatment for addiction, alcoholism, and co-occurring disorders associated with addiction and substance use. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) combines evidence-based, state of the art treatment with 12 Step principles. The IOP is an intense, focused experience designed to enable sober and productive living.

Eligibility for the IOP is based on a clinical assessment. The first step is to call us, and schedule an appointment, or use this convenient and confidential form. Now offering Saturday assessments!
